This was Cunningham's seventh
overall win in the 12-event AMA
National Championship Enduro Series. "It feels good to end the season on
a winning note," T.C. said at the
conclusion of the run. "But it still
hasn't really sunk in that I won the
National Championship."
Cunningham came on strong at
the end of the 1981 season and continued his winning ways this year
with only a few minor interruptions.
"1 proved to a lot of people that I
really am a consistent rider. When I
first started riding the National circuit, I went from extreme highs to the

pits with my scores. However, I've
learned a lot in two and a half years
and now the harder the run, the beuer
I like it and the beuer I do.
"Twin States was perfect for me
with that stretch between the gas
stops where we ran for over 30 miles
through the woods," Terry said. "I
was able to extend my lead over DarryIthrough that area. I had picked up
a five point advantage by the end of
that section. We stayed basically even
fwm there to the end."
It was an uneven day for the other
AA riders. Husky rider ,Mark Hyde
rode hard all day but had trouble
between the fourth and fifth checks
where he lost 20 points. In all he
dropped 43 and ended up in seventh
place overall.
