.. : TO VEGAS IS HERE! SATURDAY, NOVEMBER27th Doug Polen, winner of the Formula Oneclassata recentCRRC road race, wore a camera mounted to his helmet to film action for PM Magazine to be aired on Thanksgiving day on Channel 8 in Dallas, TX. Mail entries for the Cycle News Barstow to Vegas Road Ride and Poker Run are closed, but feel free to sign up the day of the run, Saturday, Nov. 27th, from 8-11a.m. To find sign up, get off of 1-15 at Harvard Rd, get on the frontage road and go to Alvord Rd., and turn under the freeway and head out to the sign up area. Papa knows there is no real need to mention this, but for the past three years those involved with the B-to-V Road Ride have been impressed with the people we motorcyclists are. This year promises to be a bigger event than ever before, and we are involved with the Circus Circus Hotel for the first time. Let's keep our good reputation I During the FIM Fall Congress in Yugoslavia, the Commission for Track Racing voted several actions as a result of the Kenny Carter/Bruce Penhall incident in the 14th heat. The action was not directed against what went on on the track, but at Carter's actions following his exclusion. Carter received a warning, as did the AMA and the organizers (because co-promoter Ivan Mauger, Carter's mana~er, allowed the outburst). In addition, the FIM suspended Mauger's license for one year, beginning Jan. I, 1983. Wheelie King Doug Domokos will be performing at the Anaheim Honda/Kawasaki open house, Saturday Nov. 20, according to sales manager Bob Massari. Additional attractions include a display of exotic A TCs, free Cokes, hot dogs and racing films. The location is 909 Nq~!'i~fl~~i"'il!v~. ir .. - with cooperation from the SCMA chartered VICTOR McLAGLEN MOTOR CORPS and the SILVER CITY SCRAMBLERS PRESENTS THE 4th ANNUAL BARSTOW to VEGAS Motorcycle Road Ride and Poker Run Road Bike Finish At heim, CA. Phone 714/778-6700 for showtimes. Rumors have reached this office predicting that 1982 would be the last year that SCORE International would promote off-road races in Baja California. SCORE president Sal Fish was not at all hesitant in denying the rumors, saying, "Right now we have three dates for '83 in Baja. The only thing we're not doing, and I never said we would, is run another 1000 to La Paz. We're probably going to run that every three years. We've got some really great plans for '83, including moving the 1000 to March. Those aren't definite yet. The reason we don't have a schedule out is because we're trying to work out a schedule where we don't step on everyone's toes, and we're just about to the point where the High Desert Racing Association and SCORE have dates far enough apart that a guy who wants to race both series', can." Dave Aldana, who was injured at the Superbikers, says he will be home soon and out racing. He describes his injuries as "not serious." A National short track will run on Apr. 30 at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, CA. This will be the kickoff event for the famed San Jose Mile that will run the next day. Rudy Galindo, co-promoter of the Nov. 27-28 Budweiser-sponsored Superbike race at Willow Springs, called up with a clarification on the rules. Galindo said that either AMA Superbike or AFM Superstreet rules ca.n be followed, but the AFM Superstreet requirement for a charging system on the bike's ~~P\t' ~'~b1t'W 9.~~9, "',W;E!.
