Kh eeyam a and class B rep Dick Orth were present for Suzuki. They were a sked to h onor their committment to th e Trans-USA, and said they wo uld co nsu lt with their attorneys a n d reply th e next day. Their answer was n o, th ey would not compete in the T ra ns USA. T here was no meeting with Yama ha . Yo u n g blood had received a letter da ted Sept. 9 from Mr. Ya m amoto, saying there would be no more d iscu ssio n and that Yamaha di d no t plan to compete in the GNC program in '83, but that they wo u ld co n tin ue to support MX racing . H asty did approach Ed Burke, the possible cl ass B replacemen t for Edm o n ds o n, a n d as ked to d iscuss Yama ha 's position . Burke sa id Yamaha's T ransUSA and GNC decisions we re final. Sep tem ber 21: The AMA Board of Trustee s, under interim authority (th ree officers and two Trustees can act d uring interim period) met w i th th eir atto rneys in Los Angeles. T wo issues were d iscussed. One, -w h ether to ac cep t Honda 's ultimatum , and if not, w hat actio n to take a gainst the co m p anies. Boa rd of Trustees vice president Bill Ba ird presid ed with Hasty, Moulton , class A rep Dale Smilie a n d secreta ry Hazel Kolb in a tten dan ce. President Chuck Larsen was a lso present, but did not lake part in or vote at the meeting. The vo te wa s unanimous - to reject Honda's ultimatu m and lake immedia te legal actio n against the comp a n ies in q uestion .
