George Holla nd and Todd Cam p bell, both former NMA Mini Experts, dominated the first 125cc Pro m o to with Mike Beier , returning after a lung injury in Washougal actio n, taking third. H o lland took his Suzu ki to the lead in the final moto wi th Suzuki rider R o bbie Brown after him all the way. Campbell took a rare fall on a hillside and hurt his left a rm. That made it impossible for Camp bell to catch up, and he took la st. Holland won the race overall ove r Beier and his consistent 3-3 tally. Brown edged out Campbell for third . The leaders in the 125cc Intermediate class were playing rough with one another. Rudy Dickinson came out of it with first place. Dircks does double duty By Pam Hardin MAY ER, AZ, SEPT. 19 Gary Dircks jam med for two I-I finishes in the 125 and 250cc Exp erts, ta kin g some heavy pressure fro m Honda riders Cha ppy Blose a nd Ti m Ri ch ard__ so n. Dircks a lmost m a de i t look easy when he pulled out in th e lead in the .Iirst moto of t h~ . 2 50~ w ith Richard- son and Bobby White br inging u p th e rear. . A pack of 21 pursued th e leader , who took th e pressure and put i t a ll ba ck o n th e o thers. Steve Patterson nailed the th rottle to join in on the battle for second be tween Richardso n , White and Rick Nagle. Ron Watmore q ui ckly a te up some time between himself and the lea der while he put Patt erson away. L OP 's R ichardson took all the chances while fir st remained securely i n Dircks' hands. . White took so me ch a nces too, with the pay-off being a loss of two posi tions. Watmore saw opportunity knocking at h is door, and methodically began to blo w Nagle's fenders off. On Mayer 's lo ng rocky track, five bikelengths seems like 'a n eternity, and three-fourths th ro ug h the race, Dircks had 10 seconds on Richardson in seco n d. The second tim e around, Bob Blos e didn ' t wa nt to be beh ind a n yo ne, and he wasn't . But Dircks and Bob 's brother Chappy wa sn 't far behind ei ther. At the end of the first la p , the Blose in third had squeezed into second while his brother h ad dropped down to fifth , leaving fir st to Chappy. Dircks nailed it, caugh t him a few turns later and went on to stretch his lead. Bob Blose had dropped out completely while Richardson took over third from White. Wa tm ore slipped by - Wh it e and tried u nsuccessfully to catch R ich ardso n, whi le he tried unsuccessfu lly to catch Blose. Dircks had every one chasing him; fort una tely for hi s bank account,.h e was never ca ught. . Results Y ZINGERS: 1. Chucky Cook (Yam); 2. Brian Cook (Yam). PEE WEE NOV: 1. Tyler Davis (Yam).
