Take the best fourriders from seven different countries, put them on a motocross track in Switzerland, andwhat have you got? The Motocross des Nations. Or, as we like to think ofit, the Olympics ofMotocross. Last year, America won this race for the first time in history: This year, history repeated itself. Because when the starting gate dropped, so did the jaws offifty thousand spectators. As they watched Team USA's DannyChandler zoom through England, Germanyand Belgium and wind upin the winners circle. With back to back wins in both motos. Not only is this an unusual accomplishment, its exactly what he accomplished last week in the equally competitive Trophee des Nations. Making him the first person in history to win all four motos in these two races. Ofcourse, he couldn't have done it alone. And thanks to David Bailey Johnny O'Mara andJim Gibson, he didn't have to. Against determinedopposition, theyracked upenoughgreatfinishes tomake the UnitedStates the world champion of motocross for the second year in a row At Honda were proud ofthe contribution we've made toward this incredible achievement. Bothin machines and riders. Because it proves once andfor all that American motocross is the best in the world. . Its gratifying in another way too. After years offollowing Europe, its awfully nice to be leading for a change. FOLLOW THE LEADER 7
