It was the first time Carlisle Tires ever raced in the speedway World Championships. It was the first time an American tire ever won the Speedway World Championship. It was the first time an American rider ever won the hampionship more than once. Individual S peedway World C Congratulations, Bruce Penhall, and the other top American riders, Denny Slgalos (3rd) B~~ .., and Kelly Moran (4th) who all ran on Carllsles. It was our first time. But It won't be our last. Ho ndali ne Rai n Suit Riding a motorcycle is fun, but getting wet doing it isn' t. The suit we test ed, and now us e as o u r main rain gear a ll the tim e, is th e two piece model. T h e jacket has a fo ld-a wa y and sn ap -u nder hood, wh ich makes it idea l for on or offbi ke use. Velcro tabs make for a tight fit around the wri sts whe re water so metimes works its way in , and Velcro is also used to hold the rai n flap sh u t over the zip per arou n d yo ur ne ck. It all works efficiently; on ly a few seconds elapse fro m the time yo u p u t the jacket on to when you 're ready to ride-a m ust for th e biker who gets caught in a cloud bu rst. Though two pi ece, there's no way wa ter can work undern ea th the ja cket onto yo ur clothes. The rai n pants fit chest-h igh and ar e held in place by a set of elastic susp enders wh ich are part of the pan ts. The su spenders won' t sta y in pl ace with th e twin loop fastener which is provided. Yo u have to tie the end of the st rap to the loops, which isn 't really too much of a hassle. T he pants also have elastic loops on the bottom to keep the p ants all the way down on your legs. Hondaline also markets rain mittens, which we also use . T h ey ha ve a p iece of chamois sewn on the left mitten, which is great for wiping off your he lmet's faceshi eld . T h e problem is that where the cha mois is sti tch ed on, the mi tten lea ks. The left mitten is th e on ly pl ace the H o ndaline Rain Sui t leaks. We have stayed warm and dry through many rainstorms, and th e suit is al ways ready for another time. We wi sh H ondaline would market rain boots . T h e reason we li ke the su it is th a t it works well, yet folds up small enough th a t we can leave it on the bike a t all times. We've opted for a pair of Dry Ri der rain boots because we can ro ll them in with th e Hondalin e su it. Some riders p refer to use rubber ga loshes, but they're too bu lky for us.
