LOOKING BACK
Louis McKey, the Phantom Duck of the Desert, graced the cover
as he prepared to tackle the Barstow to Las Vegas race... Carlsbad
Raceway hosted the CMC Four-Stroke National Championship and
Honda factory rider Ron Turner walked away with the win after Donnie
Hansen had his transmission go out on the last lap of the second moto
while leading... The American Road Racing Association held its final
meet of the year at Willow Springs Raceway in California.
Mark Blackwell was on the cover after finishing as the top American in
the Trans-AMA Motocross Series... Also on the cover were Trans-AMA
Motocross race winner Roger DeCoster, series overall winner Sylvain
Geboers and 250cc Champion Tim Hart... CMC Motocross held an
event in Wilmington, California, at Lions Drag Strip... Gary Wilson, Mike
Cone and J.C. Klusmeyer won the 200cc, 250cc and Open features,
respectively, at the San Angelo, Texas, SMRA Road Race... San
Bernardino MC held a Tough Enduro Contest in which only 50 finished
out of 411 starters.
