from the earlier showers but he
missed out by a slender 0.105
seconds.
In third place Federico Cari-
casulo (VFT Racing Yamaha)
made an instant impact with his
first ride for another new team in
2021.
Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha)
was up and down the order
but finally fourth, with one time
leader Manuel Gonzalez (Yama-
ha ParkinGo Team) fifth.
Steven Odendaal (Evan Bros
Yamaha) had some tough times
in the rain after moving forward
and back, with sixth his final
result.
In the second race, teenager
Can Oncu (Kawasaki Puccetti
equally compelling.
Virtually nobody, even some
of his rivals, begrudged Raf-
faele De Rosa (Orelac Racing
VerdNatura Kawasaki) his first
race win at the 89th attempt
in WorldSSP racing. The 2017
Superstock 1000 champion had
not scored a win in any of his 15
previous visits to the WorldSSP
podium, but his brave and often
front-running approach, despite
the changing conditions, deliv-
ered him a first win that meant
so much after so many near
misses.
Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate
Racing Yamaha) very nearly
took it from him as he closed in
at pace as the track dried out
was really surprised. It just took
me a long time to find where the
limit was, more or less. I prefer
it in the dry, though. In the dry
it's so nice and has a lot of grip
and really good flow and it's less
scary. Like I said, I just need to
be more consistent."
In 2021 the points tally fin-
ished with Razgatlioglu at 564,
Rea at 551, Redding 501,
Locatelli 291, Rinaldi 282 and
Van der Mark with 262. A truly
classic season, all the way to the
end.
