Zach Osborne Calls It A Career
Z
ach Osborne recently an-
nounced his retirement from
professional motocross and
supercross racing. The 32-year-
old's illustrious career spanned
16 years, highlighted by four
major U.S. championships.
"After 16 years of professional
racing, the time has come for me
to call it a career," Osborne said.
"I've tried everything in my power
over the last six months to get
my health back up to the stan-
dard it needs to be to race at the
highest level, and after just a few
weeks of riding supercross at full
intensity, I realized it just wasn't
meant to be. I'm so grateful for
the journey I've had as a profes-
sional. I've met so many incred-
ible people and been a part of
some of the finest organizations
in motorsports. This was not
an easy decision, or one I took
lightly, but it was the right deci-
sion. I'm forever grateful to my
family, fans and teams for their
support throughout my time as a
professional. In the next chapter,
I want to focus my time more on
giving back to those who have
given to me."
Known for his tenacity and nev-
er-give-up mentality, Osborne es-
tablished himself as a fan favorite
over the years. A highly-touted
amateur prospect, he turned pro
back in 2006 with support from
KTM. In 2008 Zacho signed
with the Yamaha of Troy team but
suffered a slew of injuries before
ending up in Europe. Zach com-
peted as the lone American in
the MXGP circuit for a few years
but was clear on his intentions
to return to AMA Supercross.
He resurfaced stateside in 2012,
splitting his time in the West
Coast Lites class and the MX2
division back in Europe. During
his time overseas he collected
14 FIM World Motocross Cham-
pionship MX2 podiums, a British
MX2 Championship and one FIM
World Motocross win.
Osborne made his full-time re-
turn to the U.S. when he signed
with GEICO Honda in 2013. The
Virginia native showed true grit
in Supercross and motocross
and even earned a spot on Team
USA's Trophy Team for the Inter-
After a successful
and varied 16-
