P32 IN THE WIND HERO BUYS 49.2 PERCENT OF BUELL HAHN GOES BASEBALL T o celebrate his Monster Energy AMA 250 Supercross title, GEICO Honda's Wil Hahn threw out the first pitch at the Angels vs. Cardinals game at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, last week. "What an awesome opportunity," said Hahn. "This was a great way to cap off my first-ever 250SX Class Monster Energy Supercross Championship." PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRIAN J. NELSON I ndia's Hero Motorcorp has purchased a 49.2-percent stake in Erik Buell Racing at a cost of $25 million, according to the Milwaukee Journal. According to the report, $15 million of the purchase price is an immediate investment with the remaining $10 million to come over the next nine months. The two companies started working together last year when Hero sponsored Erik Buell's two EBRs in the AMA Superbike Championship while Buell sent some of his engineers to India to help Hero with development of some of its new models. Buell will remain chairman and majority owner and Hero will be the only other stakeholder. "We really wanted to ramp up the business, so we were looking for outside equity investment," Buell told the Journal. "And at the same time that we've been doing technical work for Hero, they have been sponsoring our race team." Hero, the largest motorcycle manufacturer in India, has purchased 49.2 percent of EBR.
