LOWES, BYRNE SPLIT BSB WINS
AT SNETTERTON
Lowes made a break on lap five
once the racing resumed, passing first Byrne and then Brookes
on the Tyco Suzuki. A refocused
Brookes tried to stay within striking distance of the Honda, but
Lowes would remain unchallenged for the win.
In the meantime a frustrated Byrne arrived to pressure
Brookes and the pair crossed
the finish line side by side, with
Byrne just narrowly losing second to the Australian.
Race two saw a very determined Byrne lead straight away.
Brookes shadowed him, but
ran off at Brundle while trying to
avoid contact with Byrne and lost
second place to a lurking Lowes.
Lowes tried to pass Byrne
on the final lap, but Byrne held
him off, dashing Lowes' hopes
of a doubleheader win. Brookes
rounded out the podium.
PJ Jacobsen had a spectacular crash in race one while racing
for sixth place on the final lap,
the New Yorker escaping injury.
He rebounded in race two to finish 11th.
The other American in the
series, Tommy Aquino, finished
eighth in the Superstock 1000
class aboard the WD40 Kawasaki.
