Alessi Stars At World Vet Nationals
H
undreds of racers from
around the state and coun-
try made the trek to Glen Helen
Raceway for the 37th running of
the Dubya World Vet Nationals,
November 6-7.
Many motocross and off-road
stars from the past took part dur-
ing the two-day race, including
former Supercross winner and
factory Kawasaki star Jeff Matia-
sevich, former 500cc Motocross
National Champion Chuck Sun,
GP legend Kurt Nicoll, former
250 Supercross champ and off-
road star Ty Davis, Doug Dubach,
Robbie Reynard and Bob
Morales, to name a few. But it
was Mike Alessi who stole the
show by winning some of the
headlining 30-Plus Pro and Pa-
sha 125cc 30+ Pro classes.
In the 30 Plus Pro class, the well-
known number-800, Alessi, won
both motos over Jason Potter's 2-2,
and Sean Lipanovich's 3-3.
Another highly competitive
class was the 50-Plus Pro divi-
sion. World Vet veteran Dubach
claimed a moto win but also suf-
fered a DNF. Dubach's longtime
rival, Kurt Nicoll, ended up taking
the overall win via his 2-2 moto
finishes.
Pete Murray rounded out the
top three.
Team Guam, made up of
Lipanovich, Kris Keefer and
Dubach, emerged victorious in
the World Cup of Nations race.
Lipanovich is native to Guam, and
since Guam is an unincorporated
territory of the United States,
Keefer and Dubach were eligible
to ride on the team.
