VOLUME 58 ISSUE 44 NOVEMBER 2, 2021 P55 CODY WEBB COMES BACK STRONG, BUT COLTON HAAKER MATCHES TADDY BLAZUSIAK WITH FIFTH ENDUROCROSS TITLE AT DENVER DOUBLEHEADER Colton Haaker won three of the first four races to build up a large points lead so a second- place finish during Friday's round five was enough to clinch the championship. JUNIOR PRO CHAMPION Will Riordan finished the season sixth overall and earned the Junior Pro Championship, which is a cham- pionship within a championship for pro riders 21 and under. Ryder LeB- lond gave him a close run for the title but fell short. These two along with a couple of other exciting riders will still be eligible in 2022. Past Junior champions include Taylor Robert, Colton Haaker, Max Gerston and Ty Cullins. TURNER TURNS FIVE Shelby Turner (KTM) won the Women's Pro class on both Friday and Saturday making it five wins in six races, also earning the Canadian her fifth Women's Championship. Louise Forsley was her closest com- petition, stealing a win from Turner at round three in Reno. The Sherco rider, Forsley, finished second on both nights in Denver and second in the championship. Beta's Mor- gan Tanke-Colon finished third both nights and in the championship. LAST-LAP CARNAGE The Intermediate class came down to a last-race, last-lap, last-turn col- lision for the race win and season championship. Coleman Johnson (Sherco) came into the race with a three-point lead over Nathan Rector (KTM). The two riders fought to the front of the pack, and Rector made an aggressive pass attempt on Johnson in the final turn that resulted in both riders going down. TM rider Agustin Pascal passed both riders to take the win, and Rector got up to take second and the championship. Travis Griffiths (KTM) finished third in the race and Johnson recovered for fourth. Briefly... MAKES IT FIVE ond moto to make a block pass for the lead, but he could not shake a hard-charging Ryder LeBlond, another teenager improving his EnduroCross game, who nearly made a last-lap pass on the champion. Webb finished third. In the final moto, Webb made a late-race pass on Haaker, who crashed in the Matrix, to take the moto and overall win.
