Hunt put away the leader in no time and pressured Moran for fun and practice, since he'll be moved up in the next race. Novice Aardema took the lead in the same moto and began to pull away from Dean Farrell in second. David Pedersen pushed Tunnell in , third and finally put him away after a few laps of sucking his exhaust fumes. The second moto of the stock class again saw Moran take the lead with Hunt, Bobby Arnold and Carlson jamming in behind. "The Bandit" Wineland stole the show in the Novice start to almost have it taken away by Jerry Tistle. By the second lap, Tistle had complete control and held it all the wa y to the finish. A battle for second brewed between Wineland and Nick Pietrasik, who pursued the Suzuki rider relentlessly, but to no avail. When the white flag came out, Moran and Hunt were way out in front with Carlson cruising in for second in the Amateur class. When the second moto rolled around for the Modified class, Hunt didn 't care what class he was in, he just wanted the lead. He got exactly that, leaving Moran in a berm in the third turn. Halfway through, Moran got by all the Amateurs, except Hunt. He watched him like a hawk, waiting for a mistake that never came as the consistent green-meanie rider kept the throttle nailed throughout the race. In the Novice start, Wineland got there first again, only to have the lead taken over by Aardema. with Pietrasik following closely. The positions remained the same to the finish.
