Freddie Spencer (Hon) took second with Graeme Crosby (Yam) third. Randy Mamola (Suz) finished fifth. Kenny Roberts (Yam) crashed in the first corner at the start of the race. He sustained hand injuries and road rash. The point standings with three rounds to go show Uncini leading with 103 points followed by Roberts and Sheene at 68. Spencer at 67 and Crosby at 66. ' Brad Lackey, vying to become the , first American to win the 500cc MX World Championship, saw h is lead in the point standings shrink after the August I Belg ian round. Lackey (Suz) put together 2-4 moto finishes for third overall. Title contender Andre Vromans (Suz) collected the overall win with a 1-2 tally followed by Graham Noyce (Hon) wi th a 3-1. Gary Semics (Hon) took a 6-DNF. Lackey goes into the August 8 final round in Luxembourg leading Vro• mans 206 points 10 202. Eric Geboers (Suz) clinched the 126cc MX World Championship title at the August 1 round in Sweden. Geboers took the overall win with a 2-1 tally over Corrado Maddii's (Gil) 1-3. Michael Rinaldi , (Gil) posted a 3-2 tally for third. Barry Sheene was in vo lved in a high speed crash with a fallen rider during an open practice session for th e Silverstone GP on July 28. He sustained compound fractures of both lower legs which required the use of 26 screws to set. In addition, he sustained a broken wrist. Sheene was having a test session on the Yamaha V-4. ~ The Silverstone GP will be shown on NBC-TV on October 30. Check your local listings. Kawasaki's Paul Denis took the 83cc Stock and Modified Expert classes. Rick Hemme put his Suzuki in the winner's circle of the 105cc 12 and over class while Lowell Thomson took that class for the younger riders. Ron Lechien (Yam ) was unstoppable in the 125cc Stock class and Billy Liles (Kaw) took the Modifieds. Liles also took the 250cc class.
