VAN NUYS, CA, JUNE 17
·Several hundred members of
the California Racing CIub
family gathered tonight at
Shakey's Pizza Parlor to quaff
down a few beers and honor their
1982 Yamaha/Budweiser Series winners.
Racers and their families are a
breed apart. Not only did they bring
the roof down when their children
and buddies received their share of
the $43,000 in series gold, but they
roared approval at the top of their
lungs for everyone and anyone, including the announcer Greg Barbacovi, promoters Jack Barbacovi and
Jerry McNeal , and the somewhat confused man at the counter, trying to
yell out pizza pick-up orders.
When the festivities drew to a close,
the top 10 riders in every division
went home loaded down with trophies as well as various contingency
goodies, ready and waiting for next
year's series.
