Terry Poovey came out on top of a duel with
Randy Goss, over the final. 10 laps of the
Budweiser sponsored Smoky Mountain National Half Mile, to post his sixth career
National victory. The battle

out a 35 point lead in the Winston
Pro. Series point standings (134-99)

"I was going for broke after Randy
got by me late in the race," said Poovey afterwards. "I felt I could pass
him coming off the turns because he
had to pass me going in. This was a
