rance has a new national sport-
ing star after Fabio Quartararo
took his and his country's first-
ever premier-class title in MotoGP
competition at the Misano World
Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
The 22-year-old came home fourth
on the Monster Energy Yamaha
behind race winner Marc Marquez,
who led a Repsol Honda one-two
ahead of teammate Pol Espargaro
with Enea Bastianini (Esponsorama
Ducati) nabbing the final podium
place from Quartararo with three
corners to go.
Missing from the podium was the
man everyone expected to be on the
top step—Ducati Lenovo's Francesco
Bagnaia. The Italian did everything
right, taking pole position, the hole-
shot and controlling the race until
lap 23, when he lost the front of the
Ducati and crashed out while breaking
