T
he Circuito San Juan Villicum has had a
checkered recent past as a two-year WorldS-
BK venue (2018 and 2019), but in its third year,
it provided a more consistent backdrop for some
action that can be put up against any venue that
WorldSBK has enjoyed in its 30-plus years of life.
Race Two was a particularly hectic three- and
sometimes four-way battle, but from the start, this
hard-won first flyaway round since Phillip Island in
early 2020 was full of drama, uncertainty and
even a confirmation that this championship fight
will go all the way to the last round.
It deserves to. It has been attack and counter-
attack all year.
In Superpole qualifying, the Ducati rider, who
had never even seen the place, took the pre-race
"win" as Scott Redding (Aruba Ducati) scored
only his second career Superpole success.
Once the racing actually started on Saturday
for the first of two 21-lap encounters plus the
10-lap Superpole race, Redding was to have
