50 Years Ago OCTOBER 19, 1971 40 Years Ago OCTOBER 14, 1981 P120 LOOKING BACK Yamaha unveiled its 1982 models, and we pictured the all-new Yamaha 650 Turbo Seca on the cover... We had coverage of the AMA Trans- USA Motocross Series that was held at Unadilla. Broc Glover was the big winner with a 2-2. Darrell Shultz and Mark Barnett were the moto winners. Danny Chandler won the 500cc Support class... Eddie Lawson wrapped up the AMA Superbike Championship at Daytona... We covered the CZ World Championship from Saddleback. Gary Jones and Clark Jones took the 250cc and 500cc titles, respectively. Our cover story 50 years ago was a preview of the final round of the AMA Grand National Championship, which was set to take place at Ontario Motor Speedway. This would be the first time ever that the GNC title would be decided on the pavement... Unadilla hosted the Trans-AMA Motocross Series. Adolf Weil took the overall win in what were extremely muddy conditions... A round of the AMA National Enduro Championship took place in Hawthorne, Nevada. We reported that Jack Shook was the "likely" winner.
