ROUND 10 / SEPTEMBER 24-26, 2021
CIRCUITO DE JEREZ – ANGEL NIETO / JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA, SPAIN
P64
ROAD RACE I FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Having been drafted in at the
last minute to replace the injured
Chaz Davies, MotoAmerica's
Loris Baz was GoEleven Ducati's
top-six man in Sunday morning's
long race—a feat that could be
considered remarkable or one
that could be expected from a
rider who scored several podi-
ums for a privateer Ten Kate team
last season and has been a top
rider in WorldSBK for most of his
career.
It was clear Razgatlioglu had
the edge on Rea this weekend,
but in the second race that gap in
performance at Jerez was clear
from the start.
From pole position Razgatlioglu
took the lead and as he and Rea
hustled each other into turn one,
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.
It Ducati) dived up the inside.
Rea was under even more stress
in getting his bike stopped and
turned into the slow corners in
race two and soon Redding was
past, then Locatelli took the ad-
vantage over Rea for fourth place.
When Bautista passed Rea,
on the often-recalcitrant Honda,
Rea's problems were underlined,
the afternoon heat of the second
race making things worse for him.
Up front, with four laps to
go, Redding passed Razgatlio-
glu for the lead, but it was to be
Jonathan Rea (1) saw valuable
points slip away in Jerez and now
sits nearly a full race gap in arrears.
The WorldSBK paddock gather to
mourn the death of Dean Berta Vinales.
