ROUND 10 / SEPTEMBER 24-26, 2021 CIRCUITO DE JEREZ – ANGEL NIETO / JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA, SPAIN P62 ROAD RACE I FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ease out to a confident win by over a second. In third place was the factory Aruba. It Ducati of Scott Redding, on a charge, once again. At one stage, Redding's third looked like the property of Pata Yamaha with Brixx rider Andrea Locatelli, who would ultimately run out of time to put the move on Redding for the place. Fifth went to the gradually improving combination of Alvaro Bautista and his factory HRC Honda, only eight seconds from the winners. Lowes would finish ninth just in race one, unable to defend under braking, and he would withdraw from race two. Up front, the first race was de- cidedly tactile at times, with Rea leading for most for the encoun- ter. Razgatlioglu had tried to pass Rea and they hit hard at the Dani Pedrosa Corner at the end of the back straight, with Rea's exhaust pipe losing its Akrapovic exhaust sticker as they collided, and both scrabbled to stay upright. Razgatlioglu would eventually pass Rea into turn one and then MYOWNRACE 3 KOHTA NOZANE 13TH-DNF SBK "Race one began with a bad start and it was dif- ficult to overtake many riders on the first lap," said Nozane. "That said, my pace was not bad, I could stay consistently in the 1:41s, but overtaking Laverty turned out to be more difficult than I expected. At one point I made it through, but then I im- mediately made a mistake and he passed me back. On the last lap I tried again, but I went wide and couldn't complete the pass. S ll, it felt good to fight with him. In Race two things were looking be er, my start was good, my pace was be er and I was involved in a great ba le in the first three laps, but then I made a mistake and I tucked the front at Turn 6. The result was disappoin ng, but it was s ll good experi- ence for next year." 19 ALVARO BAUTISTA 5TH-3RD SBK "In light of yester- day, it was dif- ficult to remain focused today," Bau sta said. "In race one, I made a good start but in the opening laps I couldn't fully exploit the res, something we have been struggling with for a while. So a gap opened between me and the rid - ers ahead and I was unable to catch them. I was expec ng to struggle even more in race two but with the warmer tempera- tures, the bike actually became easier and smoother to ride right from the start. Par cularly from midrace onwards, I was able to lap fast and consistently. I started to catch the riders ahead and then pass them. In the end, we scored another podium and I'm happy because I felt so much be er on the bike even if the condi ons were worse than they had been this morning." Race One Race Two
