n another high-speed game of chess, Fran-
cesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) came
home the winner for the second straight time
in his MotoGP career, defeating world cham-
pionship leader Fabio Quartararo (Monster
Energy Yamaha) at Misano.
Bagnaia qualified on pole with a new lap
record of 1:31.065 ahead of teammate Jack
Miller and immediately took the advantage into
turn one, building a lead of nearly two seconds
by the time he started lap three.
Miller had also slotted into second ahead of
Quartararo but once the Frenchman was through
at just over half race distance the Australian
dropped progressively backwards with fading rear
grip. He would finish a despondent fifth, some 10
seconds behind his teammate Bagnaia.
Fabio Quartararo (20)
pulled out all the stops
but couldn't get past
the flying red Ducati of
Francesco Bagnaia.
