Good deal. Us so u the rn b oys are go od at ro cks. But they lied. CERA South has never fo u n d any ro cks li ke those. It was lik e so me b o dy broke up a co u p le of building fou ndations and dro pped the c h un -ks o f c onc re te down a 45 degree slope. Naturally we had to go up. Ba ck to 12 M PH and another sign : "Watc h for T rains ." This is a nicer . rail ro ad grade than the oth er one (meaning I can go fas te r ) and th e re's a b it less b ru sh , Only the re a re a few very b ig lo gs to be n e go ti a te d so mehow. I try to go aro un d the end of o ne, between it an d a small tree , but an in consi derate brancb kn o cks m e d own . J h ad worked h ar d, was good and tired and ready fo r my finishing pin, a cold b eer and ' a nap . But according to the sch edule we had 60 mil es to go . "Well," I th ou gh t , " if the loop is 6 0 miles lon g,. i t c an ' t he very d ifficul t be cause nobody c an c arry enough gas to make 6 0 miles if it 's all firs t an d sec o n d gear, ri ght?" Wron g. There was no ch ec k in o r out of the gas stop, so I might have suspe cted so mething fishy. Sure enough , about 3 m ile s o ut here's a ch ec k an d m e run ni ng early for the first t im e all day , It was a problem that I wasn't go in g to have t o worry ab o u t any more . The sche d ul e went to 18 MPB an d then to 24, al ways staying right on th e th in ed ge of the speed I mi gh t have ' been a b le to do if I ha d b ee n fresh. But I was bushe d, an d co n seq ue n tl y I started fallin g b ehind . We ca m e to a sign that sa id " Cliff' s B ill ." Sounded like a ski ru n. C liff's H ill wasn 't bad. j ust long. At th e top there w as a n o t h e r si g n ·' H o r r e n d o us Downh ill ." Nope, not even very bad .
