Mike took the lead o n the last lap of th e fourth h eat fr om John Brumond wh o had led till th at p oint. Oth er heat winners were R andy Gibbs o ve r Ted Davidson , Mike Allen over Gene Amais, Pat Brown over Mike Kalamaras and Ron Alsop o ver Chuck Miller. All are involved with the Bla ck p late point ra ce and so th e Main Was as su red of a t least eigh t su p er racers. In the Main it was on ce again VanLienden on the Selby Montesa leading out ove r Mike Kalamaras with Mike Allen holding third on hi. Montesa and a very surprised Randy Gibbs in the middle. Gibbs wasn 't used to a ll this fast c o m p an y and so as the ra ce progressed he regressed. At the front of th e pack it was still Mike and Mike out front with Mike in thi rd over Ron Alsop and Davidson . and that's the wa y th e y finished. . In the Expert run, it was VanLienden once again on th e Selby Motors BSA . It was al most like the 25 0 Main with very li tt le real com peti tio n for °h im while Dave D o tson an d Craig R ogers put on a battle for se cond. R ick Hoc kin g was on hand with a 36 0 Schwerma Yamaha and he was untouch able in th e 5 0 0 Expert run. This will b e a prelude to th e upcoming pro sh ort tracks star ting in June.
