Entry was down due to an unfamiltar track. but that is what motocross is all about. 0 -37 MX at De A nza by Di ck Camp RIVERSIDE, CAL., Apr. 29 , 1973 Todays race fo r District 37 was put on by the Bushmasters Motorcycle Club at De Anza Cycle Park, located about two miles off the highway between Riverside and Beaumont. It is a fairly new track with a lot of varied terrain. The entry , was do wn a little' (73 total), possibly due to the un familiar track. The first mo ta found the first three riders riding pie p late, and staying very close right down to the finish. First was Tom Williams (C Z) second was Jim Olson (Yam) and third was Doug McGowen (Suz). The second moto was almost a rerun, only with Olson getting first this time, followed by Williams and McGowen. The third mota found J im Olson first, Tom Williams second and Russ Garcia (Yam) third. Final outcome o f the three motos was the same as the last mota. The 125 Amateur/Expert was a grand slam for Experts Eric Jensen (Man) and John Rice (DKW) . They got first an d second respectively in all three motos. John Rice really had to work for second, batteIing with Danny San chez (Man) all the way. In the last mota Sanchez dr op ped out with ' rear wheel/axle trouble. T he first th ree Amateurs (al l DKW mounted) finished up with Rick Kehoe beating out D avid Camp when Camp went down two laps from the finish. T he 250 Novi ce was won by Don Bogiomo (H a n ), with a second and two rusts . Keith Patten (Yam) fini shed second wi th a firs t, third and a second. Stephen Dahlstrom (H a n ) wa s third for the d ay with a sixth, second, and a third. RESULTS , 125 NOV: 1, Tom Williams (CZ); 2 . Jim Scott (Mai) third and Skip Kreps (Bul) fourth. Olson (Yam); 3. Dennis Hazlet (Yam);2. George Luther ICZ); 3 . Randy Scott IMail. All three motos of the 250 Am/Ex were won by Mark Cook (Bul), John Carmell (Yam) was second and AI Guzman (Suz) was third. Cook had only a bike length lead over Tony Rogers (CZ) in the first mo ta , until R ogers bike stuck in gear. He couldn't shift at all, which was very critical on this very hilly co u rse. The first fo ur Amateurs we re CZ mounted an d Ron Peterson won easily. The Open Novice was a runaway by Frank Fitzgerald (Hus) winning all three motos. The Open Am/Ex class was interesting, with four different brands under the rust Expert riders. Dennis Hazlet (Yam) won all three rnotos with George Luther (C Z) seco nd , Randy ~' .....
