NOVICES Th e Novi ces had fif teen laps also wi th J e ff Davids on (Bul) on the pole. It was Bob Hosford fi rst off on th e Bill Bell Ho nda . but Ale x J orgesen (Ka w) was right b eh ind him. Hos fo rd lost the groove on lap th ree and Jorgesen ; Davidson (Bu l); J erry Kol e ( Yam ), and Bill Oliver (Bu l) were q uic k to take the advan rage. J eff Davidson t o ok the lead but he, O liver. and Kole all tan gled and wen t do,vn in a he ap and th e red nag ca me o ut on th e fif th lap. T he re-start wa s sin gle file . David son was unable to re-s tart, and Oli ver and Kole w ere pu t at th e end . On e said he th ought Novices sho uld n't have been on th e program at all. One ride r to ld me the re was on ly te n dolla rs d iffe ren ce in th e pay-off to th e fifteen lap Junior winne r and the 100 Ex pe rt wi nner.
