The specta tors wh o w ere aro und two weeks ago and saw C ary. and DeWayne Jones hi-balling on their Hondas in the mud were reall y o n their feet as Henderson grabbed th e lead in the first moto. Henderson took the lead in the firs t moto with Hrynkiewiez (C Z) sec ond and Cary Jones third. This was changed in th e sec o nd lap to a race between Henderson and Jones with Jones righ t on Bill's rear wheel for the entire ra ce, but unable to pass. The second moto saw a whole new field in front as Cary was knocked down on the starting lin e and Bill had mech an ical t rouble. Morris Malone (Hon) came on like a ch amp with the lead right off the bat and holding off a bid by DeWayne Jones for two laps and then Bruce Baron (lion) m oved up to ma ke a bid for the lead and these two battled it out for the remainder of the race with Morris taking the win. The last moto was all Bill Henderson as he took the lead from the onset and held it to the end, but it was no run-away as Morris Malone took Over where C ary Jones left off and pressed Bill fo r the en tire race. Even though he had no points for the second mo to , th e first two places garnered Henderson enough points for the 250 Expert win. In th e 125 E xpert class, it was Chuck Bower on his Penton who pie ced together a first, a second and third place fin ish to grab the top m o n ey over Mark T ye r (DKW) who finished second. With Experts sh owi n g up in all 10 classes for th e 200" payback even th e 100cc class had its share of th e top riders as Kevin Crawford took the fi st r place slo t wi th Larry McCarty in second. T h e Open Expert had its' sh ar e of thrills for the record cro wd of spectators (due to promotion on th e air and in their stores by the Crant Boys) as Ray Lopez (Mail an d Dave Boydstun (CZ) fought it out for all three motos with Ray win n in g the first two and Dave co ming up w ith the third o ne, b u t Ra y had the poin t total fo r the top money. T he only o ther Expert class of the day was the Mini-enduros and there w as no m on ey in vo lved as Brad Dutoit pushed his Honda to the win in this division. . ' The biggest class of the d ay was th e 250 Novi ce wh ere Creg Sokol (CZ ) stacked up a first and two seconds for th e win against so me pretty stiff competition . T he powers that be from Crant Bo ys grocery store were- on hand and were more than pleased with the races and with the fine job of announcing by Larry Huffman. While Larry is known for his Crant Boys commercials on KWIZ and his superb announcing at the speedway races, he also gives top notch action calls in motocross as well. The Crant Boys have expressed a desire to promote more of these "Crant Boys Grand Prix" style races in the future, so wa tch for them (get disCOUD t tickets at Crant Boys) . The ATX 70.
