Bob Crossman ( Yam) won th e cro wde d 350 produc tion event after he fought. h is way to the front . J im Corder o also had t o make hi s way to the front to win th e O pen Prod uction even t from Q uen tin Hogan. Both were o n Kawasaki 750's. Not far beh in d was the Honda 5 00 o f Tom Casey n ot giving away a bit in horsepower. A hea t cras h th at came as he wa s preparin g 10 take the overall lead so me w h at dampened the ardo r o f .Ch arles Gul yash (back after a lay-o ff o f so me months whil e in Hawaii), an d he mo t ored his Kawasaki 500 aro un d in con sp icu ou sly to tak e a placing we ll down o n the ros te r. . Ed Un ini's 175 beat all th e 20 0' s wh ich were h eaded by D on Unger's Bridgest on e. T he large 125 class wa s ta ken away fro m Mike Baed er by J onas Minton . Buz z Buzzelli st uc k his Yamaha 35 0 in fro n t of the Open GP . even t an d w asn 't loosen ed from hi s lead ing positi o n b y an y of the efforts of Mark Miller who was second 35 0. The fir st Open class bi ke was Dennis Pegelow's almost stock Kaw asaki 750 wh ich filled . th ird spo t whil e Mik e Sl au ghter picked up t he 5 0 0 clas s in fourth. Pegelow was last seen co n tem p la t ing h ow he was go ing to ge t ho me afte r he d iscovered th a t som ebody had lift ed h is walle t while he was racin g. Pegelow also has t he d ist in ction o f bein g one of th e few peop le who wants to race enough t o m arry his sp onsor. No rm Fraijo was the win ner of th e 250 GP eve nt ove r Bob Hartley . As usual all the leaders were on Yam ah as . T he sid ecar race was shor t lived. One of the h ack s b roke and all the side hack guys are so close that all the other rigs sto p ped t o help th e brok en on e. The officials go t ti re d o f wai ting fo r th em t o co me aro und and ga,ve up. Kawasaki R and 0 dude Bryo n Farnsworth came ou t to play on a 9 00 and 250 . Maybe he want ed to pract ice rid ing t~e bank s in case he got to go t o Daytona or something.
