The biggest turnout ever with 540 entries and 28 even ts , incl~ded former Mi n i greats and o u t of state representatives from Seminole and J a c ksonville , Florida; Poulsbo and Brem ert on , Washington; Rich lan d . Indiana ; T uc so n and Parker, Arizona and; o f co urse, all parts of California. There was a quick class of Expert Pee Wee's. The five lit tl e speedsters that placed are Dunes regulars. "The Bullet", Michael Koemans, and Mike "Sawdust" Mulligan really got it on to hold off one anoth er for first position. Kurt Henricksen , T o m Paris ' and R on Caldwell were all battling it out for re m a in in g positions. Three other well kn own Expert Pee Wee 's ; .Iohn Million, Ricky Trenkle . and Tracey Lee Smith also gave it a rough go . The "Bullet" finally captured this clas s. Can yo u imagine being an Expert a t five and an Old Timer at twelve ? The Novice Pee Wee ' s re ally throttled it, to o. Once again . a Dunes regular, Mark Spence , m ounted on h is Mini Mini Bambin o , wiped out his class with hi s 1-2-2 victory. N ot far b ehind was six-y e ar old Brian Smith (A r tic Cat ). Third overall was picked up by yo ung Rudy Di ckinson su ited in new A .B .C. leathers.
