Comp laints we re he ard ab o u t h ow h ard the co urse was, but there were few rocks, just a lot of cross-d rainage and no place to sit down during the en tire 76 mil es. The co urse was very w ell m ark ed , and th e dangero u s p lace s were p o in te d ou t. They even limed a lot o f ro cks that we re o n the tr ail. One earn es t Beginner ignored the three lime st ripes, the down arrows , an d two fr antically w aving flagmen in h is ze al to catch the Novices about six miles o u t at Sh ad ow Mou ntain Road. The startled look on his face w o uld have done w o nd er s to Lau rel and H ard v as his not too graceful flying " W" graced th e road crossing. Ts k,tsk! Eac h curve was abo ut fifty feet away from the last one with a be rm bu ilt up on each one, be autiful! T he two checks we re in areas where no o ne co uld stray very far from th e course and n o t miss o ne of them. Besides, cheating has not fo un d it's way int o Beginn er and No vice class races in a big w ay. T he pop ulari ty of fun racing as st ar ted an d p erfe ct ed b y SRA, proves tha t every o ne is not a " an ything goes" rider.
