J im Wright again h it for two as he co ntinues to dominate the 175-200 class an d the 250 Amateur.Expert. Richard Sweaney looked in top form as he won the 100-125 Amateur.Expert go . Terry Stanart , a student of Richard's, _ had enough for third. Terry Was also very impressive in Jhe 175-200 class where he ran second to Jim \yrigh t, Dan Mc\Vhorther kept the fam ily name alive as he came across fo r a har d fo ught win in the 250 Novice go. Even tho ugh D'!Jl had three firsts to his credit each one Was fough t for with Larry Furu, Pryor Campbell, h is first time out on a bigger bike proved o nce more he h as the skill as h e got up for th e third p lace finish . Patric k Willia ms and his 400cc Suzuki showed the boys the way home in the No \ice moto . Ken lIlackert got his BSA into the second slot m ak ing like a sandwich fo r third place Suzuki-moun ted Arth ur Moya. Bobby Alb right won th e 125 J un io r in a wire to wire effort, whi ch should be j ust about enough to ma ke that nu m be r plate fade fro m black to wh ite. Both divisions of the 250 Novice saw firs t time win ners that should both be Jun io rs by next week . Bob Hagar was never headed in Division I, although J e ff Higgins Was rig ht on Bob's rea r wheel all the way . G rant Sa lyers took advantage of G reg Hump h ers' error on the second lap to t ake over a lead he he ld to the checkered, in the Divisio n 2 Main . . Ro n Math ews charged righ t in to the lead of the 5 00 Novice an d was never headed , wh ich shoul d alter the color of , his p la tes from red to black. Jack Rothstein ro de to his second win in two races here at Hanfo rd, as he took the lead off the line -an d never looked back. Curtis Lee and Art :'IcCracken battled hammer and tongs for the 250 Junior Main, changing positions at least once each lap . Lee seemed to be ab le to get in to th e firs t turn faster than Art, but Art Was able to put the power to the ground be tter exiting the righ t-hander. A t the finish I\IcC racken got the nod over Lee. By Elaine J o nes PERRIS, CAL"June 10, 1972 - T h ree ride rs went home a trophy richer but also with the notice that next week they will be running with the faster guys: J im Wood , who was elated to see Derek Katanic m o ve up, got th e word that next week it's the 10 0cc Amateur-Expert class and right back to the old hassle , Mike DuBont, who started riding the bigge r ma ch ines, ge ts to do his thing one step up as he really socked it to th e 350 Novice moto class, Ge ne McKinney , in his firs t time Out this year, looked like had had been doing some practicing and had no problems p icking up second. Fred Meissmer was third , Jim Hendry who has been winning not only at Perris but at Corona as well , . was the th ird rider to get the word. Second place Keith Paxton shouldn 't be too fa r behind. Buck Rich Was third. John Sandona took a close one from Carv Tanner in the Amateur Big Bike . moto , S kip Gallagher took the most spec tacular flo p of the evening and 1 still haven 't fig u red o ut j ust what went wrong. Paul Lambert Was third in this one , Mike Posey dug winning so m uc h h e did it back to back , parleying Friday nigh t 's win at Corona into a Satu rday win Over Don Walters at Perris. Vin ce Graves, ex tre me ly outpowered in th is class, ro de to a th ird overall. Three classes of 25 0 Novices we re on hand an d Da vid Rees in th e second Division turned the fas test ti me of th e wi nn e rs, Pryo r Campbell , on a co n verted 2 3 8cc Kawasa ki stree t bi ke, ran away w ith Divisio n three. Danny Mo ntgomery was n umber o ne in th e First Divisio n. Doug Mason tu rn ed th e fastest tim e of the n igh t at 39 flat in the 250 Am-Ex. class. Tim Ho lm Was second an d Bo b G raves third, It's not every n igh t you put it to the likes of Rick Mi lner but tha t's exac tly what MarcJones did . Derek Katanic was third. Rex Hailey turned the fastest time of his career as he won the 125 Am-Ex. class . Mark Reichert and Art Castell were second and thi rd .
