PHI L DIETZ Dear Phil , I'm afraid you are out of luck, according to the Suzuk i parts book , they only make a first oversize wh ich is 'I. mm or .0 20 in . You might do well to contact Wisco , more than likely th ey have an oversize beyond what the factory supplies, You also m ight go so far as to check pistons of other manufacturers to see if possibly they might fit . (Such as Yamaha or but check them ou t Kawasaki, carefully .j The only oth er alternatives that you have would be to resleeve the cyl inder or purchase new ones, both of wh ich almost make it econom ically unreasonabl e . I have tried using a n ine am p. fu se but h ave burned my wire clea r through. I h ave also chec ked the w ire under the back fender but canno t find any kind of break in it. JERRY AN AS Dear Jerry, You have not said whether or not you were riding the bike each time the fuse blows. If you were , I would loo k first to the brake light circuit, this often presents a prob lem. Not that there is a problem w ith the brake light switch , it is just that it is hard to find a short here until the rider realizes that the engine qu its each time he presses the brake pedal . Wit hout yo ur ha ving a test meter t o chec k o ut wh ere your problem co uld be, th e best bet for yo u is to c he ck it o ut by t he trial and er ror system . If yo u have a short bad enough to burn out you r fuse, it will ma ke a pretty h eft y spark . As you w ill have the draw of the neutra l light s, this will also ca use it to spark, but it w ill be a light spark and you will be able to tell the d ifferenc e . After you have ascertained that you have a big enough spark to prov id e a fuse-burn ing short, start disconnecting wires one at a t ime , each time chec king to see if you still have the hefty spark. Aft er check ing each one, re-co nnect it . Keep this up until you fi nd t hat you just have the sma ll spark of the ne utral light . If you find the right circ u it, check the color code in your handbook and trace it down. I di g ra cing, especially n at tr ack ing. My best adv ice is never be too proud t o as k ad vice fro m t he rac er w ho seem s t o be doing the right t hing. A few will sh y aw ay from giving o ut t he ir secrets, bu t most of the m will be happ y to help you o ut . As far as handling is conce rned , th e consensus o f opin io n amongst most flat t ra cke rs is that t h e stock frame s just don't ma ke the program a nymore . The trend no w-a-day s is to the specia l frame s, such as the Track master. These type of frame s and suspensions have been proven in numerou s races and wh ile it might not seem kosher to copy what someone else ha s, if he is w inn ing , everybody else will be copying also. Attend some local flattrack races and see if you can get into the pits and ask around a bit . After a' wh ile, if yo u keep your eyes and ears open, you will be surprised how much you can learn . All you have to do then is to apply what you have learned. Here is a late t idb it I thought I wo u ld throw in that I just heard about. Kawasaki has just released a new shop manual for the 'H ' series. It is not a loose-leaf like the previous service manuals have been , but is a 141-page book that really goes int o deta il on how to fix everyth ing on your H-l and H·2 . It was ju st pr inted the first of the year, so if your dealer doesn't have one in stock for yo u , he can order one from The part number is Kawasak i. 99995-2 16. For you 500 and 750 owners who like to fidd le with your machin es , th is is a must . I d id n't inq uire as to the pr ice , but whateve r t he co st , it is about t he best ba rga in yo u will co me ac ross for a manual that is for y our machin e o nly.
