(R esults o n Pag e 40) CORONA KALEIDOSCOPE SEATS COMPLAINTS Story by Elaine Jones Photo b y Bu zz Bat y CORONA , CAL ., Ap ril 6 , 1972 Corona's first TT of the season unwittingly outfoxed th e neighbors across the way by finish in g the p rogram by 9:15. The complainers usually start their telephone campaign as soon as the lights go on but T hursday night t heir strategy was to wait and start doing their thing closer to 10 o 'clock and by that time everybody was o n their way home. T h e course has a super fast straightaway but it also has one very sharp right hand turn followed b y a sharp left hander. Surprisingly enough it wa s the bi g bike riders who had the most fun , and it didn't look that eas y bending those big machines around. Mike Pos ey , Walt Foster and Sandy Armstrong had some kind of duel going in the Amateur/Expert moto and p ut on some kind of show. Sandy had been having his problems and they all culmi nated in the th ird m o to when he unloaded leavin g th e way cl ear for Mike Posey who see med at ho me all nigh t , Walt Foster came up with enough fo r second and Sandy was third. Mik e turned th e fast est lap time at 35-plus. The b ig bike rid ers really had a time and the Novices were no exc ep tio n . Division 2 saw Bill Trott and Mike DuBont, Perris rivals, spread that rivalry to Corona and did they ever play musical chairs . Bill would lead down the st raightaway then Mike would zapp hi m through the tig ht st uff, t hen t hey would do it over agai n. The third heat had a tie ball game and it looked like Bill was going to wrap it up but got center punched and was out of it . Mike was fir~t, Steve Robb second, and Bill Trott, third, Casey Callender and Ra ndy Hoff fmished one, two in the Novice Moto I. Mike Myers had no trouble disposing of the 250cc Amateur/Expert class and led all three motos wire to wire. Dick Lew is and Tim Holm rounded out the field. Corona Raceway would like to t hank all the riders fo r co ming out and m akin g the first race a success. T hey w ill get bette r and w e will lis ten to all . sugge st io ns in order to give t he riders th e best p ro gra m p oss ib le. (Results on Page 40)
