Our fami ly attended the Four Aces ' Mo ose Ru n , February 20 . During the race my h usband was injured . As he was tryi ng to ge t b ack to th e pit area, a man and his fam ily ca me to his aid . They gave him water and a rid e b ack to th e fin ish wh er e a clu b member was ab le t o return him t o o ur pit. My husband had t o leave h is bik e along the h ighway because. it was damaged . Wh en we wen t ou t to get it we fou nd th e same p eople b y the road waiting fo r us. T hey helped load the b ike and were very co ncerned about m y husband. We are very gra teful to Mr . an d Mrs. Dennis Davison fro m Bloomington, Cali fornia fo r t h eir help since t hey were jus t passing b y. THAT'S RICH Just read Rich Hoffman's brilliant coverage of ACA Motocross event of February 13th. Where was h e when John Fa ckler came fro m the rear in three 500 Senior motos to take first place each time? Here's a boy who has been coming up through the ranks, and on his day of glory received not one word of recognition. Hoffman announced second and third place riders b ut di d not credit John Fackler. Accord ing to th e Times, th e desert is being dest ro yed by man an d m ach ine. T he machine is, yo u guess it, the motorcycl e! _ On th e fir st p age on Section C o f th e Ti me s is an 8x101'1 " picture of th e sta rt of the Barsto w t o Vegas Run. What d o es this say to the genera l public abou t b ike ? It say s MOTORCYCL ES ARE BAD! On th e t op of th e p ap er in lar ge p rin t it says th e desert is threat ened b y man and machin e. It says the d esert is worn o ut because of people. Ecology is a good th ing! I agree. Bu t , you can o ver-do it . Wh at is the use of TH E THRILL IS ON A ND ON AN D. . . A Sonny Ken yon-tuned BSA, with no less th an 12 rid ers, roll ed o ut to quali fy . Many National number s co uld b e seen sandwiched on said machine. Although th e rul e bo ok says th at no mo re th an o ne rid er may q ua lify on th e same bike, noth ing said th ey co uld n ot quali fy at the same time o n o ne bike. The three clu bs were the L ost Angels , So . Cal. , a nd Dirt Diggers. The p eople th at helped in th e p ro ject did a beautif u l job and had a good time doing it . We fille d an aband o ne d min e shaft , a 4 0 cu bic yard tra sh container , and st acked eno ugh tras h next to it to fill two o thers . Th e residents were very pleased and asked u s t o ride in th at ar ea an y t im e we d esired . The she riff's d epartment h ad a ca r there to help, and th e Highway Patrol d ropped by a lso . We also had write-ups in th e Evening Outlo ok and L.A. Times. We star ted our cl ea n up at 10 a.m . and aske d th at eve ryone re t urn by 2 p .m. fo r the draw in g of prizes that yo u and other companies had co nt rib uted . It was beau tifu l, everyone smi ling and p itc hing in. I b elieve th e b iggest smile came fro m the fe eling of all of us worki ng toge ther fo r a common cause an d fro m showing that we love and resp ect o ur places to ride with our friends and fa milies.
