Tim Hart got the checker in the first
two 250 Expert motos, and a third in
the last go to notch first overall. David
Pessy pushed his Ossa under the flag in
the third moto after a race long fight
with Rapp's Bultaco and Hart's Maico ,
Ra pp did stay upright long eno ugh to
finis h third overall and win enough
money to get his leathers cleaned.
The rest of the evening was just the
'usual Friday night shoot-out' that the
CMC stages at the 'beach corral'.

second and Tim for third overall.
S teve Brown has been stockpiling so
ma ny trophies of late in the 500
Intermediate class, that the next thing
you kn ow, h e and h is Maico are going t o
b e wearing an Expert classificatio n. T he
way J eff Wec ker has been doing his
number to the 250 Intermediate troops ,
we may find him in with those 250
Experts before to long, too.

Zahrt must have been thinking as he
'flew' past Tom Rapp in tonight's last
125 Expert moto,
I am sure that Tom was thinking
something like, "That WFO cat is going
to need gro und control radar to get
back to Lions' turf".
Now, I am not kidding, honest injun,
cross my heart, Boy Scou t 's honor, and
all that good stuff, from the top of the
jump to where Zahrt land ed is between
65 and 75 feet, and he was in good
shape every time h e landed . But, alas
and alack, Ke n and his Bultaco had to
settle for second place in a Bultaco
sweep as Dave R odgers ro de h om e in
first and Ray Lopez locking the door on
the money spots.
Tom Rapp had to be thinking
'gr ound control', o r something with
ground in it, as he got on a first name
b asis with m o th er earth tonigh t. T om
got off o nce in practic e, tw ic e in th e
125 mo t os, and o nce in the 250.
Tom was out front with the wick way
up, when he go t in to a rea l tank slapper
in tum one, down he went for the final
time and I clearly heard him say, "you
