ake Gagne is the 2021 MotoAmerica
Superbike Champion. The result, which
has never been in doubt for seemingly
the entire season so far, was confirmed after
Gagne took the second of three race victo-
ries at New Jersey Motorsports Park, his 15th
consecutive of the season, and of his Mo-
toAmerica Superbike career.
The Colorado resident has been even more
dominant than Cameron Beaubier in 2021,
winning every race but the first of the season,
at Road Atlanta when his engine expired. At
NJMP, he was similarly dominant, although his
pole position time of 1:20.355 was only 0.080
of a second clear from the man who has
provided the most consistent challenge to his
dominance this year, South African Mathew
Scholtz (Westby Racing Yamaha).
From there, however, that's as close as
anyone got the to the #32 Fresh N' Lean At-
tack Performance Yamaha, Gagne putting in
scything opening laps with the R1 sliding and
squirming underneath him. His margins of
victory were a demoralizing 7.6, 9.5 and 6.5
seconds, respectively, across the three races.
It was a foregone conclusion, but still a monumental
weekend in the life of Jake Gagne in New Jersey, as
the Colorado man swept all before him to become the
2021 MotoAmerica Superbike Champion
