P80 MOTOCROSS I LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 12 / SEPTEMBER 11, 2021 PRAIRIE CITY SVRA / RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA to come up short in the end. I'm proud of myself and the team; we were able to rebound and we all worked our butts off." Finishing third overall be- hind Cooper and Shimoda was Hampshire, who had quietly overcome a bad start to end up on the overall podium. As far as the series goes, Jett Lawrence became the first Aus- tralian ever to win the AMA 250 Pro Motocross Championship, and only the second in either class, as Chad Reed won the 450 Pro Motocross title in 2009. Cooper was a close second in the end, with Hunter Lawrence placing third, which gave Team Honda two of the top three in the final points. CN it has really sunk in yet. I think tomorrow, once I wake up, I will have processed everything. Still trying to process everything right now. Once it sinks in it will be good, but still dreaming right now. It was cool to wrap it up and get a break." "We did all that we could to- day," shrugged Cooper. "I ended up having a fracture in my thumb from that Washougal crash, but it was feeling a lot better today and the team did a good job to get me feeling comfortable on a gnarly racetrack. It was a great season, and we were on the podium every weekend, which was a big accomplishment for me. It was nice to get the 1-1 today, but it's a little bittersweet up from the Hangtown faithful who were keeping tabs on him. Again, Lawrence started to settle down after just a couple of laps, and this time there would be no other fall down. The moto and the season ended with Cooper out front, posting the first 1-1 of his ca- reer, with Shimoda second in the moto and overall. Lawrence was third, more than enough to clinch the title, while Vohland finished a career-best fourth in the moto, which also allowed Vohland to claim the Marty Smith Rookie of the Year Award—the same award Jett Lawrence won last year. "The feeling when I went across the finish line was, my body was dying," Lawrence said. "It was cool, but I don't think RJ Hampshire (24) finished out the year third on the 250MX podium and fourth on the season. 450MX Overall 1. Dylan Ferrandis (Yam) 1-3 2. Eli Tomac (Kaw) 4-1 3.
