P76 MOTOCROSS I LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 12 / SEPTEMBER 11, 2021 PRAIRIE CITY SVRA / RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA "I got off to a strong start and worked my way up to the lead, which I was able to maintain until the end," said Tomac. "I would have loved to come away with the overall win today, but with that small crash in the first moto, it just wasn't in the cards. I'm happy to finish the season with a moto win." "Today was my best result, even though it was a third over- all, I'm stoked!" said Webb, the '21 AMA Supercross Champion. "Unfortunately, I didn't get the season started very well." The 250 class would offer even more drama, almost all of it coming from the points leader and title favorite Jett Lawrence. First, he did not get the best start in the first moto while Justin Cooper was out front and flying. One half lap into the first moto he crashed in a section of rollers, stie and Craig to get the overall win. And just like he's done time and again all summer long, Fer- randis got the job done. Second overall Tomac was not quite in the same mood, though he was satisfied in how things were ending between him and Kawasaki, as Tomac will now join Monster Energy/ Star Racing Yamaha as Ferran- dis' teammate. nately his foot was not broken. The early problems for both first-moto winner Ferrandis and runner-up Roczen meant that both Webb and Tomac had a clear shot at the overall win. For Webb, it would mean his first 450MX win since Spring Creek in July 2019. For Tomac, it would a fitting farewell to the Kawasaki team that he has been with 2016. What neither of them know of at the time, however, was that Ferrandis was determined to win despite his first-turn problems. Ferrandis, who was up to 23rd place after one lap, was picking off riders left and right. He had reached fifth by the halfway mark and found himself closing in quickly on Twisted Tea Suzuki's Max Anstie and his own team- mate Craig. With the two-lap board out and Tomac leading, Ferrandis had to pass both An- Already-crowned 450MX champ Dylan Ferrandis (14) didn't need to win but he did anyway after a stellar come-from-behind ride in moto two. Jo Shimoda was solid all year. He was second overall at Hangtown and fifth in the championship.
