Ben Lowe (H-D) +15.337 prove that, even with the cham- pionship already decided, he is the class of the class in Sun- day's rematch. Texter's closest challenger both times out was a hungry Chad Cose. The Voodoo Ranger-backed "California Kid," Cose, grew up racing at the nearby Lodi Cycle Bowl and would regularly come out to the mile to watch the stars of the day shine their brightest. He wanted to win in Sacra- mento the worst way, which is all the more credit to Texter that he denied him twice. Sunday's fight went down to the flag following a hectic final couple of laps. Texter held on by 0.015 but was forced to push so hard that he actually crashed unhurt into the air fence in turn one seconds after earning his seventh win of the season. While Cose didn't get the win he desired, his runner-ups elevated him to second in the points, nine points ahead of Memphis Shades/Vinson Con- struction's Dan Bromley (216- 207). Cose's temporary Vance & Hines teammates, Jesse Janisch and Morgen Mischler, each took a turn on the podium aboard their V&H H-D XG750Rs. Mis- sion Roof Systems' Ben Lowe (fourth on Saturday, fifth on Sunday) and Lessley Brothers Racing's Nick Armstrong (fourth on Sunday) were the only other riders to break into the top five on the weekend. CN Brunner credited his improved fitness and racecraft for the dou- ble win. His rivals also credited his missile-fast CRF450R. Of course, all three worked factors in unison to make it happen. Texter-Bauman went 2-3 on the weekend, while Daniels went 3-2. Meanwhile, Daniels' teammate, Mikey Rush, was a constant presence at the front and finished fourth both times out. Fifth was traded by a pair of riders who looked close to re- discovering their winning forms in Mission Roof Systems' Kevin Stollings and 1st Impression Race Team's Tanner Dean. Texter's works KTM teammate and former points leader, Max Whale, collected a pair of sev- enths. Those results, combined with Brunner's 0.023-second Sunday margin over Daniels, were just enough to keep the Australian's title hopes alive heading into the finale, but only just. He's now 20 points back (268-248), which means Whale needs to win and hope for some sort of Daniels disaster in order to prevent the series' first-ever repeat AFT Singles champion. AFT PRODUCTION TWINS G&G Racing's Cory Texter con- tinued to cement his transforma- tion from overlooked journeyman rider to recognized flat track star. Texter added a second AFT Production Twins title to his resume with a dominant win on Saturday. He then proceeded to
