T he sh oes wer e taking th e jump with th e id ea in mind th at every second in the air was o ne more second o f drive that was lost. Less exp erie nc ed rid ers so ugh t to see how high they co uld soar through th e atm o sp h ere. Results : Som e outstanding riding, wild aerobatics, spe ctator appeal, tw o broken legs and a p ossible fractured co llar bo n e. After the first lightweight practi ce all yo u cou ld se e were crews ch an ging sprockets and riders looking fo r their sk id -shoe, T h e steelies turn ed out t o be impractical and less prepared riders f ound themsel ves h opeless ly undergeared.
