especially it's crazy how many
people there were. It was good
for us riders maybe because we
wear the Italian jersey, and we are
in Italy so that's why."
For the defending WT champs,
the week was somewhat disap-
pointing from the start. "We've
just got to minimize the mistakes
riding so I'm really happy with
my week. Also, it was my team's
week because we [rode] good
and strong every day. Also, the
other riders [on the team made]
really good results in the overall
so that's really important for the
team results."
In regard to the Italian team
winning on home soil, Verona not-
ed, "[On day four] I won the over-
all and it was crazy. There were
a lot of fans here. I didn't think
about that; when I arrived at a test
I saw all of the people cheering
for us. Also, the world champion-
ship [round] here in Italy, usually
there is a lot of people, but here
to achieve his goal of one day
winning overall individual honors.
"It was an amazing week for me
and also for our team," Garcia said.
"[From] the first day I was feel-
ing really good with the bike and I
enjoyed a lot the tests. That, I think,
takes me to the victory. When you
enjoy your ride and you are happy,
at the end everything works. It was
like a dream come true because I
dream all my life to win the overall
in Six Days and finish second in the
World Trophy. I hope one day we
can win that also."
As fast as Garcia was, though,
Six Days is a team championship
and Italy fielded the fastest four
this week. The E1 winner and sec-
ond overall individually, Verona
observed, "I'm happy about my
