ROUNDS 12-13 / SEPTEMBER 3-6, 2021 ILLINOIS STATE FAIRGROUNDS / SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS P78 FLAT TRACK I PROGRESSIVE AMERICAN FLAT TRACK checkered flag for himself. Even while Brunner stood atop the po- dium, he was openly apologetic about the overly optimistic ma- neuver in post-race interviews. Progressive AFT officials made things right just prior to the second main, clarifying the rule- book in a race-ending red-flag situation. As such, the results went back a lap while Brunner, who was judged to be the sole cause of the red, was dropped to the back of the lead lap. Ultimately, that meant that Daniels was named the winner and Brunner was credited with 11th. Rush and Mission Roof Systems pilot Mischler com- pleted the podium with Kopp a close fourth. The rematch took a similar shape along with some repeat drama, which was not entirely unexpected in a fast-moving home fans with a dual-entry on the weekend, competing in both Friday's one-night AFT Singles Springfield Short Track double- header and Sunday-Monday's AFT Production Twins double- header on the Mile. Any chance Daniels had at "the quad" appeared to get bur- ied in the dirt of the final corner of Friday's first main. After earlier dispensing of Estenson Racing teammate Mikey Rush and Smartop/ Jones Honda rookie Kody Kopp, Daniels zeroed in on fellow 2020 Springfield ST winner Trevor Brunner. Daniels made his move with two laps to go and looked good to get his season back on track in winning fashion in short order. Instead, Brunner forced the is- sue in the last corner, knocking the champ down and taking the MYOWNRACE 13 MORGEN MISCHLER 3RD-5TH AFT SINGLES, 2ND-5TH AFT PRODUC- TION TWINS While Daniels was the headliner, Morgen Mishler put together a strong dual-class performance of his own, scoring two podiums and four top-fives. Following his Sunday AFT Produc on Twins runner-up, he said, "I got off to a pre y good restart and followed Dallas the first two or three laps. He had a li le lower line and the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson ended up liking that. We just had to figure out that line—it was a li le choppy on both ends. I'm really proud of everyone in this corner. It's an honor to represent such a pres - gious brand and company. There's a lot of history there." Dallas Daniels won everything in sight in the Singles and Production Twins classes. He reclaimed the championship lead in the Singles class, too.
