50 Years Ago SEPTEMBER 21, 1971 40 Years Ago SEPTEMBER 16, 1981 P134 LOOKING BACK An artistic rendering of a classic Moto Guzzi LeMans III adorned the cover of issue 36 in 1981... A muddy AMA Youth MX National Championship was held at the Rolling Hills Cycle Park in North Carolina... Yamaha-mounted Mike Baker scored two wins in 175cc and 250cc Expert classes at the Dirt Diggers GP held at Indian Dunes... AMA Youth/Amateur National Short Track competitors arrived at the Niles Sports Forum in southwest Michigan for the two-day final. An artistic rendering of a classic Moto Guzzi LeMans III adorned the cover Southern California Speedway Champion Mike Bast made the Cycle News cover after winning every race in the 1971 series... Harley-Davidson's Cal Rayborn was also featured on the cover after becoming the sixth different winner in six rounds of the Yamaha Gold Cup... Ron Bohn won the two-day 400-mile AMA National Enduro...
