VOLUME 58 ISSUE 35 AUGUST 31, 2021 P65 PHOTOGRAPHY BY BROWNDOG WILSON O n maybe the hottest, most humid race day of the summer, Monster Energy Ka- wasaki's Eli Tomac reached the winner's circle for the first time in this series, while Team Honda's teenaged sensation Jett Lawrence had his best day ever, sweeping both 250cc motos to move back into the points lead of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Tomac battled for the win for much of the first 450cc moto with points leader Dylan Ferrandis of the Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha team before letting the Frenchman get away at the end. But the second time out, Tomac put on a riding clinic, overtaking surprise early leader Cooper Webb and motoring off with the moto win and the overall. Ferrandis would end up second with 1-2 fin- ishes, while Red Bull KTM's Webb, the '21 AMA Supercross Champion, earned his first overall podium of the summer season.
