not-so-familiar motorcycle do-
ing some damage, as Toni Elias
subbed for Josh Herrin, who is
still recovering from a Covid-19 di-
agnosis. Elias immediately gelled
with the Fresh N' Lean Attack
Performance Yamaha and took
second in race one, fading to
fourth in race two after losing out
in a race-long battle with Suzuki's
Bobby Fong.
Westby Racing Yamaha's
Mathew Scholtz got shuffled back
to third in race one, but he made
amends in race two, halving the
gap to Gagne to 5.7 seconds and
taking a valuable second ahead
of Fong.
It was an unhappy weekend for
Loris Baz on the Warhorse HSBK
Racing Ducati New York entry, as
the Frenchman crashed out of race
one on the third lap, at turn three,
while in third place. Luckily for him
he made it past the dreaded three
in race two, charging from 11th on
the grid to take fifth.
A fourth and a sixth for Cam-
eron Petersen (M4 Ecstar Suzuki)
allowed the South African to
cement third in the championship
behind compatriot Scholtz with
two rounds to go.
In the Superbike Cup, run
for Stock 1000 machines in the
Superbike races, Jake Lewis took
both wins on the Altus Motors-
ports Suzuki.
With 150 points still up for
grabs and two rounds remaining,
Gagne will likely wrap up the title
in race two at the next round at
New Jersey Motorsports Park in
three weeks' time.
MYOWNRACE
70 TYLER SCOTT
4-1 JUNIOR CUP
"It was pre y disappoin ng yesterday
because we lost a bunch of champion-
ship points," Tyler Sco said a er race
two. "We kind of fell back this weekend
in the championship. We s ll have the
lead. Yesterday I didn't have the same
aggression as I did today, and I kind of fell
back right there at the end. I didn't have
enough laps to get back to the front and
get crucial points that I needed. Today was
a great race. The pace was definitely a lot
faster, and I gave it my all. I knew I had to
get to the front and try and pull away on
the last lap."
85 JAKE LEWIS
1ST STOCK 1000
"It was a good race," Jake Lewis said. "That
was my plan to get out front and try to
go. I felt like I had a li le bit of pace on
these guys all weekend to do 43's pre y
easy. This race was so tough because my
pit board, I wasn't ge ng a gap. I was
just pushing honestly as hard as I could. I
looked back once there. I was telling Travis
[Wyman], I didn't know who it was when
I looked back. I was just trying like heck to
break him. I was honestly a li le red. I
was trying to relax my arms and stuff and
focus on breathing. I was just focused on
pu ng down those 43's. But it feels good
to win."
