Minicycle racer Robbie Reynard made front-page news for winning
the Minicycle Grand National Championship at the NMA Grand National
Motocross Championships at Ponca City. Ezra Lusk won the 250cc
and 125cc Stock and Modified Pro classes... Doug Polen won both
legs of the World Superbike rounds in Sweden... Larry Pegram won
the Sturgis Short Track, which was a round of the AMA 600cc National
Championship Dirt Track Series...
Dave Thorpe clinched the 500cc
Motocross World Championship in
Luxenbourg.

Valentino Rossi was featured on the cover 20 years ago. He was
the first Italian ever to win the Suzuka 8 Hours and his teammate was
former champ Colin Edwards... We covered the Great American
Championship Hillclimb from Billings, Montana. Dusty Beer came
away with two class victories.... For the second year in a row, Mike
Alessi won every moto he entered at the NMA GNC Motocross at
Ponca City. Some of the other 85cc-class winners were Eli Tomac,
Zach Osborne, Broc Tickle, Bobby Kiniry and Kyle Chisholm.
