ROUNDS 9-10 / AUGUST 13-14, 2021 WEEDSPORT SPEEDWAY / WEEDSPORT, NEW YORK P100 FLAT TRACK I PROGRESSIVE AMERICAN FLAT TRACK tion dating back as far as 2016, got his maiden Progressive AFT podium finish at long last earlier this season with a second-place finish at the OKC Mile. The Fredericktown Yamaha/ Richie Reynolds Racing rider very nearly one-upped that on Friday night at Weedsport Speedway. He slashed his way up to second but simply ran out of time in his quest to catch holeshot maestro Cory Texter. For G&G Racing/Roof Sys- tems star Texter, the win repre- sented his fifth win of the season and another step toward reclaim- ing the class crown. For Smith, it served as motivation. He came back even stronger on Saturday, again slicing up to the front before ultimately taking the lead away from Memphis up 16 podiums, including seven runners-up, between wins. He finally snapped the streak of near-misses with a dominant performance on Saturday night, railing around the extreme high line out front in his inimitable style. Husqvarna-backed Brandon Kitchen made a late charge with the "Mischler line" to beat Dan- iels and Trent Lowe for second. That result allowed Kitchen to finally secure his first podium of 2021, while preventing WBR/ Suzuki Motor of America runner Lowe from doing the same. AFT PRODUCTION TWINS But even Mischler's long wait couldn't compare to that of Cameron Smith. Smith, who had been a regular top-five finisher in AFT Singles competi- AFT Singles racing, Daniels earned a last-lap victory over Turner Racing/American Hon- da's Trevor Brunner on Friday and backed it up with a hard- fought third on Saturday. With Aussie Whale caught up in the second group both nights and turning in eighth- and fifth- place rides, Daniels retook the points advantage by two points (178-176) as the series left New York and headed for Daniels' stomping grounds of Peoria. While a five-race wins drought may have felt like an eternity to Daniels, it was nothing com- pared to Mischer's three-year hiatus. It wasn't as if he hadn't been close since his 2018 Texas Half-Mile breakthrough—he had been far too often, with the Mis- sion Roof Systems pilot racking Cameron Smith grabbed his first Production Twins win of the season on Saturday.
