Czech WorldSBK: Redding Makes
the Most of It
T
oprak Razgatlioglu (Pata
Yamaha) and Scott Redding
(Aruba.it Ducati) did all the major
points scoring at the new-to-
WorldSBK Autodrom Most facility
in Most, Czech Republic, August
6-8, each slashing prime cuts
out of Jonathan Rea's (Kawasaki
Racing Team) championship lead
as a result.
It had all started weirdly at Most
with one dry and one wet ses-
sion on Friday. The track looked
sketchy in the dry in places, in
the wet even more so.
In a dry Superpole on Saturday,
Rea triumphed for the sixth time
in six races this year, but Redding
probably could have taken it from
him had he not been caught out in
the new-for-2021 yellow flag rules,
even though his name did not ap-
pear on the list as a transgressor
in the final results sheet.
The first race at the old/new
Most was an out-and-out belter.
Redding got away from Razgatlio-
glu and Rea, who would ride
sometimes almost into Razgatlio-
glu in certain areas, but then
could not get past.
Rea, chasing behind Razgatlio-
glu, eventually fell under trail brak-
ing into the tricky turn-one chi-
cane. He restarted in 11th position.
With a few laps to go, he fell
again, fast and quite hard this
time into turn 20.
Jonas Folger's BMW had an en-
gine failure in that area earlier in the
race, but Rea is not sure if he went
down on a residual patch of spilled
oil or something else entirely, but
down he went all the same.
Razgatlioglu, having tried an
earlier last-lap pass on Redding,
was not closing enough on leader
Redding to mount a final chal-
lenge. Or so it seemed, until he
came from a long way back and
slid his bike inside Redding.
The English rider lifted and with
just one apex and one final full
corner to run, but Razgatlioglu

Scott Redding (45) and

were at it all weekend, with
both taking a race win.
