50 Years Ago AUGUST 17, 1971 40 Years Ago AUGUST 12, 1981 P130 LOOKING BACK We pictured a happy Bruce Penhall who had just qualified for the World Individual Speedway Championship later in the year after winning the Intercontinental Final in Denmark... Mark Barnett won the 125cc National Motocross at Washougal, while Broc Glover won the 500cc class... We had coverage of the White River National Enduro from White Cloud, Michigan. Team Husqvarna's Terry Cunningham rode his 420 Auto to the win... We showed you spy photos of Honda's production 1982 CR80, 125 and 480R motocrossers. Cal Rayborn was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago after winning the AMA National in Michigan ahead of Chuck Palmgren and Dave Sehl. Kenny Roberts won the Junior Final... We questioned some of the new rules that were implemented for AMA District 37 enduros... We tested AJS 250 Stormer motocross motorcycle... We had race coverage of the Masterlinks Hare Scrambles in Adelanto, California, and the big talk was dust, evidently there was plenty of it. Terry Clark edged out Mitch Mayes for the win.
